Carolina Beach is our town, a great town, home to famous doughnuts and a beckoning boardwalk. Tourists love our great beaches, restaurants, and night spots. But Carolina Beach has some hidden secrets, too.

Few Moves Moving Company has helped many a family move to and from Carolina Beach. And we’ve helped the locals move all around town, so we know a “Few” things only the local residents know. Here are a “Few” ways to know for sure you’re from Carolina Beach.

You’ve Helped Yourself to a Beer at the Fat Pelican

Walk in, wave to the bartender, and stroll into the cooler to select your own beer. That’s how it’s done at the Fat Pelican on North Lake Park Boulevard. Then you can sip the suds on a comfy couch or at a picnic table out back. If you’re from Carolina Beach, you won’t wait to be waited on.

You’ve Climbed the Dunes at Carolina Beach State Park

Many beachgoers never set foot in the hidden gem of Carolina Beach State Park, but natives know that if you walk the beach trail at low tide, you’ll get to some of the largest sand dunes in the Cape Fear area. While you’re there, look for Venus flytrap, which grow only within a 60-mile radius of Wilmington. The flytraps bloom in May.

You’ve Been to the Movies at the Lake

Carolina Beach natives don’t mind sharing their nice weather with the tourists, but they plan to get there early for the Movie by the Lake on Sunday nights. Bring your own drinks, but the kids can usually weasel a little change from mom and dad for a treat.

You Avoid the Lake in a Storm

Tourists and people from Carolina Beach both love Carolina Lake Park. But natives know it tends to get a little dampish in a deluge. In a tropical storm, it floods. Get on the side of the lake you want and stay there until it dries out.

You Pedal to the Fireworks

Thursday nights are fireworks night at the boardwalk, and there’s a band playing too. If you’re from Carolina Beach, you know the drill: Don’t drive. Ride your bike. Traffic is terrible, and this way you can have a beer.

Carolina Beachers Shop Local at the Veggie Wagon

If you’re from Carolina Beach, you know grocery stores are a scarce commodity. Much better is the Veggie Wagon, a tiny shop full of everything you need to make dinner. It starts with fresh produce and local cheeses, meats, and baked goods. But chances are whatever you need, you’re going to find it here: a cup of coffee, slushies, gift baskets, dog bones—you name it.

Whether you’re moving to or from Carolina Beach or just getting a new place within town, Few Moves Moving Company is here to help.
