Our Favorite Raleigh NC Sandwich Shops
When lunchtime hunger hits, you need a sandwich! Many restaurants make sandwiches, but a few sandwich shops really shine. For a great sandwich in Raleigh, choose from one of Raleigh’s favorite sandwich shops:
Nashers Sandwich House
Nashers prides itself on quality ingredients, proper technique, good service, and integrity in a clean atmosphere. The chef-driven menu includes the standards plus fun alternatives like a Roasted Pear Grilled Cheese, along with soup, cookies, and fries.
Sunflowers Café
Sunflowers offers great hot sandwiches, but they’re especially known for their vegetarian options, including Portobello, avocado, and hummus sandwiches on 10 choices of bread—and yes, you can have yours gluten free.
Boondoni’s Sandwich Superstore
With the slogan “We make it here,” Boondoni’s offers a huge selection of subs and specialty sandwiches. Try the Bureaucrat (hot roast beef on pumpernickel) or the Porky Pita (Eastern North Carolina barbecue in pita with slaw).
Capital Club 16
Soup, salad, and terrific sandwiches make Capital Club a busy lunch spot. Popular bites include the Sparrow (melted brie, provolone, baby spinach, apple, caramelized onion, and sunflower seeds) and the Schnitzel Sandwich (pork cutlet, braised kale, and jalapeño herb aioli).
Village Deli and Grill
This hot spot in Cameron Village is one of Raleigh’s favorite sandwich shops (expanded to three more Raleigh locations). Build your own burger, try a hot Panini, try a veggie sandwich with tempeh or pimento cheese, or order an old-fashioned sub. Is a hot dog a sandwich? They have ’em.
The Remedy Diner
The Remedy Diner uses fresh, local, and organic ingredients to create fun sandwiches with groovy names like The Big Ka-Tuna, Apocalyose Wow! and yes, Groovy Train. You’ll find vegetarian, vegan, low-carb, and gluten-free choices as well as good ole blue plate specials.
Night Kitchen Bakehouse and Café
“We Don’t Sleep Until We Serve You Awesomeness” is the slogan at the Night Kitchen. Here you’ll find a Cuban Sandwich and a Turkey Club, but also a Marinated Chickpea Sandwich and house-cured Gravlax on ciabatta.
Sosta Café
Sosta promises (and delivers) authentic French attitude along with coffee and sandwiches, soups, and salads. We love the Poulet (curried chicken salad) and This Little Piggy (Eastern Carolina-style vegan ‘barbecue” with tomatoes, and arugula). At night, there’s craft beer and wine.
